我呼吸你 (I Breathe You)

Woo~

Woo~
我呼吸你 呼吸回忆呼吸你坚持要离开的决定
你的气息 忘不掉飞散不去 霸占我的呼吸
小心翼翼收拾起玻璃瓶随时温习
我会笑 因为空气有你 和回忆

Catching Up

It was Friday evening and a bunch of us decided to have a dinner chat with our lecturer and friend Dr Shee. Those of you who came earlier to MC know this quiet but full of wisdom guy. Although quiet, he has so much to share that he could go on and on and those who have taken classes with him could testify to that.
To me, I would always be grateful for all the BIG help and support he has given me when at one point of my life during my college years I was so ready to pack and just leave for good. His advice and encouragement were among what kept me going. He, along with another lecturer and a few close friends were the ones who...despite all the Blue Advantage rumors...backed me up, stayed with me, encouraged me to get back on my feet again and moved on.

That was about 9 years ago and I've never looked back. Although shadows of the past still lingers once in many moons, I am where I am now and never been happier! :)

Dinner with Mark & Jenny

My two Taiwanese students, Mark and Jenny, have been coming to our house for tutoring lately and occasionally they would join us for evening dinner. Yesterday was one of the days where we came home early and I had the time to cook while the siblings did their practice test.

While the four of us were seated at the table, Mark commented on my living room's tiles saying they were stainless steel tiles! As far as I know, I have never heard of a stainless steel tiles except for cutlery! We went on chatting while feeding our tummies. When I decided to take my still-not-fixed camera out and wanted to get their picture, they quickly did this...

to this!
Yes, they hate picture taking unless they are surrounded by a big crowd. Well, soon after we were done with our dinner, we decided to go to Seacon to have some drinks and ice-cream. Ah, the joy of having good companies! :)

Received bad news from Pauline. Made me want to slap some arrogance right there and then. It's such a sad thing to be living in an unfair world full of double faced snakes!!!

Acid Test

Damien said I should undergo an acid test to see if I fit to own a dslr camera. So he ensembles his Olympus E250 and handed it to me. Woooh! I thought I just carried a bunch of truck accessories or something because his camera, with all the additional lenses and flash almost have the same weight as I on the weighing scale.

Even if, with all my strength and might I tried fiddling with some of the functions on the Olympus and did some shots. As soon as I lifted the camera, Damien chanted non-stop of how I flimsily held his toy (mentang-mentang saya ini jakun)! Then he showed me the right way of handling it and true enough, it wasn't that heavy anymore. I could manage it perfectly fine.

Yes, it is in our long wish list to own a dslr one day. Perhaps, I should undergo more training on my flabby arms before I could own one...

Unfriendly Black Spot Part 2

Then the next you must have a camera event was up--School Retreat. I had no choice but to bring my black dot camera. I took minimal pictures until the last day when Zico's unmindful zest made me think that I should take my camera out and later on edit those spot like acne treatment on photoshop. So I did and took several nice pictures with of course the "beautiful spot" in all of the photos. When we were back to school that Monday, he asked me to do the editing job and I was browsing through all the pictures we took and was thwarted in hope, totally! While Zico was waiting for the pictures to be edited, I was heated up by all the spots I see and thus did this instead:
From this...
to this! I call this picture Burnt.

The zoom in part is worst. The spot totally resembled a sun when directly shot upward towards the open sky like this...
Picture: The prince who rescued his Rapunzel with a yellow kayak :)

So yesterday I went to MBK after school to hopefully erase Mr Spot from my camera and never to be seen again. However, when I reached the 5th floor of where the Canon service center is situated, the lady quoted a price of about 3500B not for the cost to fix the problem but to replace the whole camera lens! Preposterous I thought that I quickly claimed the camera back and went home. After several headache relapses, I think I should. I should just let them change the lens and pay for the price. Should I or should I not?

Unfriendly Black Spot Part 1

My Canon powershot camera has been giving me headaches since a black dot dwells and settles on the inner lens. It happened during the last event of my friend's wedding. I was taking pictures of the sisters who were seated across me and as most girls normally do, we like to preview pictures taken right after the camera person snaps. The sisters did and one of them noticed that her face had something sort of like a smeared make up on it. Conscious, she quickly asked me to look at her face and wiped off the "smeared make-up" off her face. Without wasting time, I quickly took out a tissue and was ready to wipe when I looked up...and there was no smear anywhere on her face. Her face was perfectly fine.

Weird, I quickly looked at the picture and true enough, it was this huge smear that landed perfectly on her face when the picture was snapped. Alarmed and feeling hot under the collar, I tried random snapping.

First, on the food menu, and second on a glass. True enough it was a rascal black spot or maybe some fungus found its way into my lens! My whole mood of taking picture totally sank that night and it totally spoiled my mood to enjoy the food that was being served! How silly but yeah...you know...how attached I am to my lousy cam...
The day after I came back to Bangkok I had this colon cleanse reviews that I had to do and without my camera I was incapable of doing anything! Then came another significant event which you will read in Unfriendly Black Spot Part 2.

Gloom Bag

It was raining heavily outside and I had time to kill after 2 hours of full swing tutoring. Didn't want to stuff myself on food like Hobbit thus the best weight loss supplements I could think of ...one of them was sewing. So I walked into the study room and rummaged through all the fabrics I have and thought I would come up with something and within seconds I was busy measuring and cutting across fabrics and felts!
Due to my impatient nature, I accidentally damaged my roller cutter. I rolled it over the board off the board onto my ceramic floor! Very careless indeed that I had to turn myself over to fabric scissors to finish all the cutting and trimming job. I had fun and it sure did help me overcome the melancholic weather outside. Thus I want to call this completed project the Gloom Bag despite the blossom!

New Moon

I have read the book and now it is time to watch the movie!

Q1 Exam Week

It is our first quarter exam week. The students are obviously not pleased about it but for me as a teacher, I get to at least relax my voice box during class time this week because I get to invigilate tests. So far all the feedback I get from the tests I gave were all positive--they thought it was not too hard and not too easy manufactured homes.

Then what made my day was when one of my kindergarten (K2) kid's mom came to especially thank me for teaching the kids. I didn't know that my teaching created students eagerness to learn Chinese by themselves. All I know and heard were comments about how it is hard to learn the language and how little time we have to learn in school. Nevertheless, this mom told me that the son suddenly started lifting up his tiny fingers and started counting from 1 to 10 in Chinese. Yes, I did taught them how to say 1 to 10 in class but that was it and we didn't even say hi to 11. Yet the mom told me that he actually wanted to learn how to count all the way up to 100. This is not unusual but consider this boy has no interest in learning anything...and the mom was actually surprised that he wanted to learn more Chinese words. He also taught the mom how to say "I love my dad, mom, sister, etc" using the actions we did in class! Great!

The joy of being a teacher!

How To Have A Good Day!

One student came up to me all of a sudden one day and ask, "Ma'am, do you know how to have a good day?" My immediate answer was "Of course. Just smile from the minute you wake up in the morning and keep it that way throughout the day." Then she tilted her eyebrows and said, "but how can we smile all the time? Don't you get tired?" Then I said "well, I didn't ask you to literally smile all the time but at least the smile will somehow lead us to being positive the whole day." Long story short, this girl asked me that question just because someone told her to "have a good day today." How sweet right? Story told, it kept me thinking of how often do we train our minds think positively the moment we wake up. Online life insurance...Well, a few months back I found this article from wiki and it has several pointers that can help us start our day well.

First thing first...

Smile. You loose nothing by giving out a free smile isn't it?

Second...

Exercise!

And these follows...

3. Have a good night sleep
4. Eat breakfast
5. Invite friends over
6. Be spontaneous
7. Don't concentrate on the negative
8. Do something you're scared off

Not hard at all eh? :)

Splinters I Got

I was fascinated with some of the weird looking medical equipment in our school clinic today while the nurse removed my splinters. Yes splinters. It has been 4 days past since the retreat but I still have them on my foot. The big ones were removed before we left the resort and it took 2 kind hearted Noks to do it for me. The small ones are still happily stuck under my foot but I just didn't bother until the nurse reminded me that I need to remove it. It was all for beautiful picture's sake. Next time I would be extra careful before doing a killer pose that I will not hurt myself for the sake of a minute fame! :)

Discipleship & The Cross

Discipleship is faith expressed in real life, every day, in every way-- John Koessler

Discipleship implies a living relationship with the Christ we love, serve, and seek to imitate. For most of us there is room in this relationship for considerable improvement. Only if you are willing to take up your cross may you be called His disciple. “For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will find it”Matthew 16:25-26.

As I was having my devotional today, I struggled with Mark 8:34. I couldn't believe I was asking God what does He meant by carrying my own cross? Was it my burden that I have carry? Or was it my shame? A lot of things went through my head until He opened up my mind and led me to the meaning of the cross. It was simple but not easy. It means being willing to die in order to follow Jesus. The next verse (Mark 8:35) needs me to give up my life in order to save it which is obviously not easy. Yet, a disciple is only one if he or she is willing to give up his or her hopes, dreams, possessions, even his or her very life if need be for the cause of Christ.

If you wonder if you are ready to take up your cross, consider these questions:
• Are you willing to follow Jesus if it means losing some of your closest friends?
• Are you willing to follow Jesus if it means alienation from your family?
• Are you willing to follow Jesus if it means the loss of your reputation?
• Are you willing to follow Jesus if it means losing your job?
• Are you willing to follow Jesus if it means losing your life?

Lord, thank you for showing me the true meaning of the cross. May You continue to teach me to carry on with love the cross that you have given me.

All By Myself

The title of this post used to be my favorite song during my Celine Dion days. Coming home from the retreat today somehow puts me automatically into the mood of that song. While emptying all my bags and putting stuff to where they belong, I thought it was easy to do it all by myself. So I was very determined to finish my easy-peasy chores until I was ready to eat dinner and shower. For as long as I know, dinner would always be served if I was too tired to get up and cook by myself. But it didn't happen today. I had to force my lazy bum to get up and raid the fridge to feed my tummy! Oh, the many dishes and coffee makers...Where is my Hobbit? Again as I walked into the shower, I left something outside the shower room and usually I just have to yell for what I need and things will come my way but hey, then I remembered that I was all by myself! Ahh, this feeling of loneliness...I want you to quickly expire! :)
