Rainy Sunday

I love it when it rains on early Sunday morning because you could just stay in bed and sleep some more. Today I woke up to a roaring thunder and as much as I was trying to recall my DNA testing dream, I couldn't. Anyway, I had a great start this morning. I decided to cancel Platinum trip because my 3 new tutoring students were coming in the afternoon. I wouldn't be back by the time they come if I go. After the morning routine, I sat right in front of my sewing machine and picked up on where I left the day before. Here's the end result...

0-3 months old flowery red baby shoe inspired by Aimee Larsen

The pattern was easy to follow but I still can't manage the sewing. It took me about 2 hours to finish this up. The left shoe is somehow smaller than the right shoe due to my amateur sewing. Nevertheless, I get to experiment on how to add felt. It was another worthy learning process. :)

The afternoons were spent with three lovely students. We got along quickly and even played a nice Amazing Grace duet on the piano and sax! Looking forward to their next visit.

10 Guidelines from God

A dear friend forwarded this to me. Again I am reminded that I am not walking this earthly path alone. I need no rv insurance as such because as the hymn sings it...anywhere with Jesus I can safely go...
Effective Immediately,
please be aware that there are changes YOU need to make in YOUR life. These changes need to be completed in order that I may fulfill My promises to you to grant you peace, joy and happiness in this life. I apologize for any inconvenience, but after all that I am doing, this seems very little to ask of you. Please, follow these 10 guidelines.

1. QUIT WORRYING:
Life has dealt you a blow and all you do is sit and worry. Have you forgotten that I am here to take all your burdens and carry them for you? Or do you just enjoy fretting over every little thing that comes your way?

2. PUT IT ON THE LIST:
Something needs done or taken care of. Put it on the list. No, not YOUR list.. Put it on MY to-do-list. Let ME be the one to take care of the problem.. I can't help you until you turn it over to Me. And although My to-do-list is long, I am after all... God. I can take care of anything you put into My hands. In fact, if the truth were ever really known, I take care of a lot of things for you that you never even realize.

3. TRUST ME:
Once you've given your burdens to Me, quit trying to take them back. Trust in Me. Have the faith that I will take care of all your needs, your problems and your trials. Problems with the kids? Put them on My list. Problem with finances? Put it on My list. Problems with your emotional roller coaster? For My sake, put it on My list. I want to help you. All you have to do is ask.

4. LEAVE IT ALONE:
Don't wake up one morning and say, "Well, I'm feeling much stronger now, I think I can handle it from here." Why do you think you are feeling stronger now? It's simple. You gave Me your burdens and I'm taking care of them. I also renew your strength and cover you in my peace. Don't you know that if I give you these problems back, you will be right back where you started? Leave them with Me and forget about them.. Just let Me do my job.

5. TALK TO ME:
I want you to forget a lot of things... Forget what was making you crazy. Forget the worry and the fretting because you know I'm in control. But there's one thing I pray you never forget. Please, don't forget to talk to Me - OFTEN! I love YOU! I want to hear your voice. I want you to include Me in on the things going on in your life. I want to hear you talk about your friends and family.. Prayer is simply you having a conversation with Me. I want to be your dearest friend..

6. HAVE FAITH:
I see a lot of things from up here that you can't see from here you are. Have faith in Me that I know what I'm doing. Trust Me; you wouldn't want the view from My eyes. I will continue to care for you, watch over you, and meet your needs. You only have to trust Me. Although I have a much bigger task than you, it seems as if you have so much trouble just doing your simple part. How hard can trust be?

7. SHARE:
You were taught to share when you were only two years old. When did you forget? That rule still applies. Share with those who are less fortunate than you. Share your joy with those who need encouragement. Share your laughter with those who haven't heard any in such a long time. Share your tears with those who have forgotten how to cry. Share your faith with those who have none.

8. BE PATIENT:
I managed to fix it so in just one lifetime you could have so many diverse experiences. You grow from a child to an adult, have children, change jobs many times, learn many trades, travel to so many places, meet thousands of people, and experience so much. How can you be so impatient then when it takes Me a little longer than you expect to handle something on My to-do-list? Trust in My timing, for My timing is perfect. Just because I created the entire universe in only six days, everyone thinks I should always rush, rush, rush..

9. BE KIND :
Be kind to others, for I love them just as much as I love you. They may not dress like you, or talk like you, or live the same way you do, but I still love you all. Please try to get along, for My sake. I created each of you different in some way. It would be too boring if you were all identical. Please, know I love each of your differences.

10.. LOVE YOURSELF:
As much as I love you, how can you not love yourself? You were created by me for one reason only -- to be loved, and to love in return. I am a God of Love. Love Me. Love your neighbors. But also love yourself. It makes My heart ache when I see you so angry with yourself when things go wrong. You are very precious to me. Don't ever forget......

Note: I received this from a friend and I have no idea who wrote it, but I was so touched by it, that I had to share it with you. I hope that you will be blessed by it and will share it with others.

Touch someone with your love. Rather than focus upon the thorns of life, smell the roses and count your blessings!

Lunch Tote

Due to my last post about packing lunch to school, I've made a simple tote bag which I named Lunch tote. It also has something to do with my recent craze which is sewing. I detest sewing, had never dream of using a sewing machine or even make anything with it before but upon browsing the many blogs by creative home makers and designers, also inspired by my friend Nok, I have fallen in love with patterns and fabrics altogether! In fact the craze gets worse and worse each day that I am very much still head over heals!

Noticing my sleepless nights last week, my beloved husband (I'll take a break from calling him Hobbit for once) finally encouraged me to go all the way and pursue my new found love. He kindly chipped in some moola to my ever tiny savings (yang tidak pernah menjadi bukit) and like magic there on my study room...sat a small cute sewing machine!

With zero knowledge of sewing, beloved husband figured how to ensemble the machine, place the threads and spin the bobbins while I nervously figured the measurements on my 1 meter fabric in an attempt to make a tote bag! NEVER sew but wanna make a TOTE BAG!!! I even cut the fabric across with my hands shivering as if I was having malaria!

It took me about 3 hours to finish on the bag. The hems and stitches were no were but a very novice job, winding stitches here and there not to mention how many times the thread got stuck on the machine... Nevertheless, I could say I was VERY satisfied despite the notion that I always had that I could never sew.

pattern was inspired by one of the member at Burda.

Went to bed at 2am the first night I got my mainan.
Yet slept with a smile as big as half the full moon!

My mom must be very proud that her daughter finally WANT to sew!

Lunch To School

Since our new school year started last week, so did my habit of bringing my own lunch to school. No more Medifast coupons. Hobbit and I made some sort of calculations and found out that it was much cheaper if we could bring our own food to school. Not only we get to eat home cooked food but we get to eat healthy! Therefore, I come home every evening to cook two different meal during the whole week. One is for dinner and one goes into each of our lunch boxes. As of last week we had brown rice and breads as our staple, mix vegetable, fish cakes, sayur manis, and the most aromatic tempoyak aka kasam durian! Haha! The tempoyak was Zico's idea but others eating with us didn't quite like the smell. Can't really blame them for fanning their nose and rolling their eyes to the pungent smell of durian! ^_^ Hope we keep this habit going throughout the school year for it does help not only our health but the pocket as well! :)

Finally - School Year 2009-2010

First day of school for the intermediate and high school sections in our school. I was trying to type my schedule all over again since there were many changes. As I was typing, I noticed that most of my classes are in the afternoons, in other words it's after lunch break. No break time in between until after school. I am far from complaining but what I have experienced last year with several classes straight was that my physical body got too exhausted and mentally dead. I just pray that I will be okay this school year since I have a classroom of my own *wink*. I no longer need to carry tons of books all across the hallway and walk back and forth to get to my classes. It is a Bob revolution really! It was NOT fun at all juggling between this and that and walk with tons of stuff in your hands! Anyway, here's to wishing everyone a good start and may God be your teacher as you sail through this year!

This is cute. I wanna make one like this for anyone's baby! :)

MV Doulos is Back

The yummilicious cookie by Doulos' crew
Banana flavored ice-cream on board *_^

It was like yesterday that MV Doulos made its way to Khlong Toei Port three years ago and now they are back again. I remember wading through sea water since the tide was high when we reached the port! Actually they have been here since July 29 and will stay until August 24, 2009 at the Khlong Toei Port, Bangkok. For those of you who are interested to get some good books or get in touch with its volunteers, you may do so within the time frame given above. It's Doulos fifth visit to Thailand and I thought the last time they stopped by would be their last. The Titanic would have survived this long if it wasn't for the well-known accident because the very fact that MV Doulos is only 2 years younger than the Titanic is almost comparable!

Muak Lek Getaway #2

It's Paradise Resort!

The first time I visited Paradise Resort back in 1999, I thought ahh...I would never have the chance to feel the luxury in this hotel because hey, the college is just a few minutes away and why would I stay in Muak Lek town when there are hundreds of resorts around Muak Lek's vicinity? You'll never know. They said, never say never!

It was dark and our friends wanted to stay in a place with a swimming pool. So we thought Paradise resort was the place. When we got there, we were given a small new house. It was so brand new that I could smell everything new in the house that night. Back to the swimming pool, it was closed due to some function they had beside the pool Delta faucets area. Out we went for a late dinner.
Hobbit and I really didn't expect to spend the night at Muak Lek. Thus we had to go to a Factory Outlet nearby to shop for some clothes. Instead of feeling dejected, we were elevated! We retired immediately after dinner since we were all tired on our feet!
Next day we stopped by the muslim restaurant for a quick brunch and on the roads to Primo Posto. The road we took to this place was a long and winding one but of course lots of nice scenery to enjoy along the way. It was pretty easy to spot despite we being first timers. Lots of people and the sun was burning hot. We managed to snap some pictures and decided to end our Muak Lek getaway thereafter headed back to Bangkok.
Indeed it was a tiring but fun trip. We have planned several trips in the future. All we could ask and beg for are time and money. Could hardly wait!
